Shopping in Lisbon: Chiado
After Baixa, you have to walk around Chiado. Chiado, its more elegant neighbor, unveils itself over a hill and is more refined and sophisticated in character, with a number of historic cafés, fashionable boutiques and upscale hotels and restaurants.
Armazéns do Chiado is a must see, not only for the store you can find inside but for it's beautiful architecture. Designed by respected Portuguese architect Álvaro Vieira, Armazéns do Chiado is an upmarket shopping mall incorporating several designer boutiques. You can count with Calzedonia, Intimissimi, Hilfiger Denim, Kiko, Parfois, O Boticário, Pepe Jeans London, Rituals, Sephora, Springfield, The Body Shop and the best friend that everyone knows around the world Starbucks coffeeshop. If you are looking for music and entertainment stores, FNAC is the perfect place, sells CDs, DVDs, books, magazines and computers, plus loads of accessories.
I prefer walking around Chiado, enjoying the street stores. Next to the Armazéns do Chiado, Rua do Carmo if filled with traditional stores but international brands are expanding, you will find H&M with 4 floors (you will find everything in here, even H&M Home), Women's Secret. Oh you have to try the best ice creams I have ever tried in Lisbon, at Santini (I have to try their new ice cream in bonbon), you have to taste all their flavors, all are unique, even the ones you think you will hate they will surprise you in a good way. Chiado is one on the districts where Vogue Fashion Night Out happens.
Around Armazéns do Chiado you will find a lot of fashionable stores. Right on the Rua Garrett there's a big Zara store, the building is beautiful and there's a lot of light inside so you can try the clothes and look amazing. You will find on this street Blanco, Miss Sixty, Zara Home, Hugo Boss, Bershka. On the same street you will find the oldest bookstore, confirmed by a Guinness certificate on the wall, Bertrand. There's an amazing portuguese brand for shoes located on this street, Zilian. Believe me, you will fall in love with this brand, such beautiful, comfortable shoes, you will want to adopt them all.
And at the top of it all you can have coffee on the most famous cafe known in Lisbon, Café A Brasileira, next to Fernando Pessoa. I prefer having my coffee outside because the love I have for the façade. Inside you feel like you are in a different era, the colors and even the small size gives a special touch to this beautiful place.
After you have relaxed next to Pessoa, and to finish this trip through Chiado, you can shop at Hermès, right on Largo Chiado.
Chiado is an up and coming district, not only a beautiful neighborhood to visit but a place where all international want to open a store.
There's a lot more to talk about Chiado but in a text is very hard to describe it all, the best way to live it and feel it is by visiting and spending hours taking pictures and making memories in this elegant place.
Best way to get to Chiado:
Subway - Metro Blue Line or Green Line - Baixa/Chiado
