Shopping in Lisbon: Chiado

Image
After Baixa, you have to walk around Chiado. Chiado, its more elegant neighbor, unveils itself over a hill and is more refined and sophisticated in character, with a number of historic cafés, fashionable boutiques and upscale hotels and restaurants. Armazéns do Chiado is a must see, not only for the store you can find inside but for it's beautiful architecture. Designed by respected Portuguese architect Álvaro Vieira, Armazéns do Chiado is an upmarket shopping mall incorporating several designer boutiques. You can count with Calzedonia, Intimissimi, Hilfiger Denim, Kiko, Parfois, O Boticário, Pepe Jeans London, Rituals, Sephora, Springfield, The Body Shop and the best friend that everyone knows around the world Starbucks coffeeshop. If you are looking for music and entertainment stores, FNAC is the perfect place, sells CDs, DVDs, books, magazines and computers, plus loads of accessories.

LV Stands for Louis Vuitton

Image
I have known LouisVuitton company ever since my mother bought her first bag, since then I fell in love with the company and when I grew up and came in 2008 to study in Portugal I wanted to represent a brand like LV. Such a big connection I created to the brand that not only I like to use their bags but I study the brand by reading books and trying to understand the beginning of LV. I understand the philosophy LV stands for and in a world wide market it's important to have that specific thing that distinguishes from other luxury brands. LV is such a valued brand that since it was founded, 1854, the brand had to fight against copies of the models. And now has a really hard philosophy and drastic measures against fake.

Like every girl, my favorite movie is..... Breakfast at Tiffany's (and I read the book). And if you didn't saw one of my latest Instagram pictures, Audrey Hepburn is my life icon! Not only I recognize her as a great actress and a beautiful woman but she was a fantastic person. Helping others was her desire and that's what she did until her death. Her work is fantastic and it's amazing how a human being has so much to give. It was her hard years during the WWII that made her this persona, influencing her through her life. If you saw the movie (maybe a thousand times like me), your eyes locked on that beautiful scene at the end, where she is in the taxi with Paul reading the letter from José and she says " A girl can't read that sort of thing without her lipstick...."  and you see that amazing pink lipstick. I don't like pink very much for lipstick but that specific color I love it (no, it's not because of the movie). It was created for Audrey

Image
Dear followers, sorry I haven't blogged lately but I was really ill, if you visited my Instagram account you already knew that. I'm back for more Shopping in Lisbon but today I'm going to suggest a place for you to enjoy your evening after a day full of shopping and discovering Lisbon. And where is this place? You may ask. Well, it's in the same spot where I suggested you to go shopping, Baixa :) Just one more thing, Baixa is one of the places in Lisbon where in September you can enjoy Vogue Fashion Night Out. Unfortunately, I never had the pleasure to be in this event because I'm always away from Portugal. Maybe this year. Back to the place I want to suggest! Stop your shopping, stop looking at the magnificent Rua Augusta, I know it's hard but do it, and go to The George .

Shopping in Lisbon: Baixa (Downtown)

Baixa, also known as Baixa Pombalina is a very elegant part of the city of Lisbon built after the earthquake of 1755. It's named after the man leading the rebuilt of Lisbon after the earthquake, Marquess of Pombal. It's the first example of earthquake resistant construction. Now you can find traditional shops, there's no better experience to find this unique shops, places that preserve the elements of Pombaline architecture. The streets are named according to the shopkeepers and craftsman that trade in the area.

That '70s Show

Image
Looking back at the Spring/Summer 2015 collections we can see that the '70s are back. In Gucci, Tom Ford, Saint Laurent and Tommy Hilfiger rockers and hippies were all over the catwalks. Fashion has this way to revisit the old ages and interpret it to the twenty first century, to the needs that women have now. And I admire them for that. Not only they make new collections and trends but they show you a piece of history, the world history. That's what I love about fashion. With fashion I am not only learning about fashion and new words to add to my fashion dictionary, I am pulled to learn about the era that inspired them for the season, learning about history and expanding my horizons of the world. So, take your flare jeans out of the closet, rock those high waist pants, and live the '70s. I remember my first flare pants, I still have them in my wardrobe,  I was 14 they were white and I bought them at some street shop with old stuff, vintage. They were white, low waist, an

Peter Dundas is named the new creative director of Roberto Cavalli. The designer will present his first collection in the Milan Fashion Week in September. Just earlier this week, Peter Dundas presented his last and final collection for Emilio Pucci, where he worked since 2008. Dundas already worked in Cavalli from 2002 to 2005 as the brand's chief designer. Hope to see he's great collection for Cavalli, he's style is so adequate to this house. xoxo, A

Spring 2015: Trends

Image
After the Winter 2015: Trends post I thought that you guys hated me because I was reminding you already of the trends for the cold season instead of celebrating the flower and hotter days season. So here I am twilling you what do you need to have in your closets to be in style for this Spring Shirtdresses A classic for this time of the year except designers gave it drop waists this year and in some cases you can find them with double high slits. You can choose which model do you like the best and what goes with your style.  Altuzarra  Josh Goot Resort Rebecca Minkoff Yellow Ok, this one is problematic for me because I don't go with yellow. My skin tone next to yellow makes me look a little weird. There are various shades of yellow from amber to canary. In my opinion tanned skinned people look so amazing in this color. Just go into a store and choose a tone that goes with your skin and if you like it wear it and rock the Spring.  Diane von Furstenberg

Moschino by Jeremy Scott

Image
When I heard that Jeremy Scott was going to be the new creative director for the Italian brand Moschino, I knew great things would happen. He basically reinterpreted the identity of Moschino. He did amazing things, giving the brand  dose os his fun signature, doing collections based on fast food, SpongeBob Squarepants and Barbie, making us want to have every single piece he designed. Last character seen on his runway was the teddy bear, you can have the phone case shaped like a bear with a cute t-shirt saying "This is Not a Moschino Toy", a bear printed backpack and a furry shoulder bag shaped like a motorcycle jacket. I can see all the street style stars rocking the bag and the phone case. I wouldn't say no to the phone case actually, my iPhone is already screaming for a new ensemble ;)

Let Me Introduce You Lisbon

Image
First of all, Lisbon is a historical city, so shopping in this city can be quite a cultural experience and adventure. From Baixa (Downtown) to the most recent points in Lisbon, Vasco da Gama and Colombo, it looks as if you went through a time tunnel. Now let me present you the key points. In Baixa many shops look as if time as stopped, since they are in old buildings keeping the facade and modernizing the inside for the XXI century shops. Seems as if you are in a museum, living and touching it. Besides this XXI century shops, you can still find traditional shops that are still open thanks to the tourists. In Bairro Alto, known for it's nightlife, you can find vintage shops and that's where some of the national designers have their own boutiques. My favorite place not only to wander but to shop too is Avenida da Liberdade, here are located the most luxurious brands, from Furla to Louis Vuitton, pick one and you find it. And finally you have the shopping malls Vasco da Gama
