Met Gala China: Through the Looking Glass

This year the theme was China: Through the Looking Glass in the most important fashion event, that gets together the most important editors, celebrities and models of the fashion industry, celebrating the opening of the new exhibit at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
There were a lot of looks and styles, some were fabulous, exuberant and creative but others totally missed what this event is all about, like Met Gala is just another red carpet moment.
The Follow Affair gave especial attention to the looks that respected the dress code, the way they interpreted the theme, even in little details (Selena Gomez dress or SJP headpiece) but there were looks that were just fabulous even though the theme wasn't there (Diane Kruger). Having said that, here is the best looks from the Met Gala.
Let's start with the theme ladies, the looks that respected the dress code. Headpieces were a big thing this year, usually only SJP rocked headpieces, of course she wins anyway, no one can compete with the Queen of the Met Gala.
Sarah Jessica Parker in Custom H&M and Philip Treacy Headpiece
Rihanna in Guo Pei
Gong Li in Roberto Cavalli

Bee Shaffer in Alexander McQueen
Red was a big tendency on the Red Carpet. Symbolizing good fortune and joy in China, a save choice for an event with this theme.
Karolina Kurkova in Tommy Hilfiger; Helen Mirren in Dolce&Gabbana; Sienna Miller in Thakoon

Emily Ratajkowski in Custom Topshop; Georgia May Jagger in Gucci; Irina Shayk in Versace

Diane Agron in Tory Burch; Grace Coddington; Selena Gomez in Vera Wang

Alexa Chung in Erdem; Bella Hadid in Custom Topshop; Ziyi Zhang
Cara Delenvigne style is super creative, using her arms to tattoo blossoms that are seen of traditional chinese dresses.
Cara Delenvigne in Stella McCartney; Jessica Hart in Valentino; Kate Hudson in Michael Kors
Now the most elegant looks without the theme.

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley in Atelier Versace; Kendall Jenner in Calvin Klein Collection; Candice Swanepoel in Michael Kors

Diane Kruger in Chanel Haute Couture; Jennifer Lawrence in Dior Haute Couture; Emma Roberts in Ralph Lauren
Kim Kardashian and Beyoncé looked beautiful but I don't think the dress was appropriate for the occasion.

What's your favorite look?

xoxo, A
